You can choose to donate via direct debit to St.Oswald’s church. Like many churches, we rely completely on donations, and it is only the generosity of people like you which allows us to continue the work we do. If you would like further information on donating via either direct debit, or via the weekly envelope scheme, please contact the Warden with your contact details, and we will return your message. Don’t forget, if you pay UK tax you can Gift Aid your donations, giving the church an extra 20% of your gift.
St Oswald’s has joined www.easyfundraising.org.uk. When you shop on line with hundreds of retailers, including John Lewis, M & S, Amazon, Boots, The Body Shop, Thomas Cook Essentials, Dixons, Curry’s, Argos, Tesco Direct, Sainsbury’s, etc., etc. – the list is endless – and you order through the ‘easyfundraising site’ St Oswald’s will receive a donation of up to 15% of the purchase price. The retailers do not charge you extra for using the service. When you first log on to the site you will need to register – easy and self-explanatory. You will also need to register that you are a supporter of St Oswald’s Church – Knuzden. Once registered, every purchase will generate us some money and every time you use easysearch to search the web instead of Google, funds will be raised. The search engines used are Yahoo and Bing. Each supporter of St Oswald’s can raise around £20 a year just be searching easysearch 10 times a day! How does it work? Whenever your supporters ‘click-through’ to a retailer’s website from the easyfundraising site and then make a purchase, the retailer will donate a percentage of the cost of their order, but at no extra cost to the purchaser. Donations range from 0.5 –15% of the purchase price, or with some categories such as Insurance, a specific cash value. Your supporters shop online as normal and do not pay a penny extra for their transaction. Why do retailers make free donations? It seems generous, but as the costs associated with ‘virtual shopping’ are greatly reduced – online there’s no shop, heating, electricity, rates, shop-fitting, salesperson and so on – because of this, many retailer are more than happy to help support good causes when a new online customer is introduced to them. What will it cost our members & supporters to use/join?Nothing. There are no joining fees or monthly subscriptions and they can use our site as little or as often as they like to raise funds for you.
I love to bead – to the extent that I make more jewelry than I can possibly wear. My creations are unique, intricate, made of good quality beads, and can be designed to compliment a special outfit – in the colours you want. The jewellery is inexpensive and I don’t make a profit from sales – the prices reflect the cost of the beads, clasps, thread, etc. to which I add 30%. This 30% is donated to St Oswald’s Church. If you would like to see the items I have already made, you can see them at the church craft fairs or fetes.
